Caponi is a part-time artist and musician, and full-time creative director at Adobe in San Francisco.


Since 2007 (his second tenure at Adobe) he has helped in part or in total, direct the identities for Adobe's products and set the visual tone of the brand.


He began his career as a designer with Winterland in SF, promoting musical acts through graphic t-shirt designs, tourbooks, buttons and bandanas.


Through the artist John Ritter, Caponi first joined Adobe in 1990, where he developed iconic identities and campaigns for Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop. In 1997, he founded the creative studio design:unknown, focused on the disciplines of advertising, design and motion graphics.


John holds a BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design. He has been recognized by awards from AIGA, Communication Arts, Graphis New Media, and other industry publications.


John is Senior Lecturer at CCA (California College of the Arts) in the Graphic Design department teaching the Graphic Design Tools class.








He is currently working on a new release with his long-time co-conspiritor David Winter under the name Postseason.


In 2009 John wrote and released a 5 song EP of power pop with Trey Sabatelli
