Why do direct mail and posters need to be printed on paper? It especially doesn't make sense when it's about an artist who uses the canvas itself to reinforce his concepts of the coldness of war. To mimic the style of painting, this poster was silkscreened on canvas and utilized type that would be associated with military stencils.
